Praise for the Nicky and Noah mysteries:
“Joe Cosentino has a unique and fabulous gift. His writing is flawless, and his use of farce, along with his convoluted plot-lines, will have you guessing until the very last page, which makes his books a joy to read. His books are worth their weight in gold, and if you haven’t discovered them yet you are in for a rare treat.” Divine Magazine
“a combination of Laurel and Hardy mixed with Hitchcock and Murder She Wrote…
Loaded with puns and one-liners…Right to the end, you are kept guessing, and the conclusion still has a surprise in store for you.” Optimumm Book Reviews

THE AUDIOBOOK OF DRAMA FRATERNITY, THE 6th NICKY AND NOAH MYSTERY
by Joe Cosentino, performed by Griswold Addams
Author Joe Cosentino interviews audiobook performer Griswold Addams on Drama Fraternity, the 6th Nicky and Noah comedy mystery audiobook!
Joe: Hi, Griswold. Thanks for interviewing with me for the third time.
Griswold: My wife is getting jealous.
Joe: Your wife is a Nicky and Noah mysteries fan, so she’s all right in my book. Pun intended. As are you! You did an amazing job performing the audiobooks of Drama Luau and Drama Detective, books 4 and 5 in the series. Now you are back having just aced book 6!
Griswold: I’m like chapped lips in winter. I keep coming back.
Joe: As you know, adorable couple Nicky and Noah are college theatre professors at Treemeadow College, where all the world is a stage. Since this is your third Nicky and Noah mystery audiobook, what have you learned about theatre?
Griswold: Since I have a background in theatre, a lot of this is familiar and wonderful territory for me.
Joe: The books have lots of drama and mystery, but at their heart they are comedies. You illustrate that so perfectly in the audiobooks. Where did you get your spot-on comic timing?
Griswold: As a young man, my grandfather introduced me to classic slapstick comedy and vaudeville. I loved watching Abbott and Costello, The Three Stooges (with and without Ted Healy), Red Skelton, etc. In comedy, timing is extremely critical. You have to know when and where to deliver punchlines, and how fast to respond to said punchlines. If it is even off by a solitary second, the joke runs the risk of being lost on the audience.
Joe: There are multiple murders in each book. Is it fun using your voice to kill off so many people in such a riotous manner?
Griswold: Extremely! Especially since it’s bad manners and a touch illegal to do it in real life. (smile)
Joe: There are always surprises in the books, especially whodunit. Do you ever guess the ending before reaching it?
Griswold: I think I do! Only half the time am I right, though. Haha!
Joe: In Drama Fraternity, Nicky and Noah are doing a slasher film. Are you a slasher film fan?
Griswold: I used to be. I was first introduced to them when I was in the third grade. I would go over to my friend’s house as often as I could, and we would watch full slasher movie marathons. Now, these were back in the days of VHS tapes and rewinding. Something the kids nowadays will never know the pain of. But I digress! He introduced me to all of the Friday the 13th movies, Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, as well as the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. What a blast (pun intended).
Joe: I laughed out loud when hearing the audiobook, and I cried a few times too. Your timing and numerous character voices were perfect.
Griswold: You’re making me blush.
Griswold: But don’t stop.
Joe: Do you ever listen to someone’s voice and then use that voice in an audiobook?
Griswold: I haven’t heard many voices “externally” that make me say, “Yes! That one is perfect!” However, Bronson Pinchot did a marvelous job narrating the entre trilogy of the Heroes Guide to Saving Your Kingdom. From him, I did pick up a few pointers.
Joe: Which character in the story was your favorite to voice and why?
Griswold: For this one, Nicky was my favorite. He seemed a little more on the sarcastic side than in the past books, and it made the whole feel and tone more exciting and enjoyable.
Joe: Which character was the most difficult to voice and why?
Griswold: The pastor of the triple G church. Even given his description, I had to do several retakes until I found a voice in my mental rolodex that fit his wild description.
Joe: You’ve performed/produced numerous audiobooks. Tell us about your recording studio.
Griswold: My studio used to be my and my wife’s walk-in closet. Since early 2020, it has been converted to my studio. We used sound insulation paneling to layer each wall. The panels are 100% cotton and are 16in. X 8ft. X 4in. We covered the panels in blankets, and it works beautifully.
Joe: Do you ever get lonely?
Griswold: At times I do. Should the book be a family friendly one, I sometimes invite one of my kids to sit with me while I record.
What was the biggest challenge in bringing Drama Fraternity to audiobook life?
Griswold: With it being fall, and the air getting less humid; I find I need to drink more water because my throat is drying out faster. So, I had to take frequent breaks this time to rehydrate.
Joe: Why should audiobook lovers buy Drama Fraternity?
Griswold: Because you wrote it! That, and because it’s a loveable story with all of the elements a great story should have: drama, comedy, love, murder, suspense, and little Taavi.
Joe: How can audiobook fans find out more about you?
Griswold: They can keep tabs on me by stalking my Instagram profile which can be found here: @griswoldaddams and Twitter handle: @GriswoldAddams
Joe: Thank you for your time and talent, Griswold. I look forward to our next collaboration!
