~ * ~ Jessica‘s Review ~ * ~
Déjà Vu is the second book and a stand-alone story written by S. Barker. Liam dreams vivid dreams. Starting his last year of high school, he decides this year will be different; no longer will he be pushed around by people. Liam sticks close to his best friend Daniel and stands up for himself. After a fight that lands someone in the hospital and spending a short amount of time in Juvie, Elijah moves away from everything he knows to a small and quiet town. He sees Liam and knows he is special. Liam sees Elijah and knows they are connected.
Liam is adorable. I love that he is apologetically himself, although we do find out it is a new thing as he was outed and bullied in the past. I am glad we get to meet him as he decides he is no longer taking the abuse. Elijah is the mysterious bad boy. Liam and Elijah go together very well, and although instalove is not my thing, I did enjoy them, and I was sad when this book ended.
I appreciated the epilogue, although I wish we could have seen potentially the families meeting and maybe a Daniel double date. As I mentioned, I’m not one for instalove. Without spoiling it too much, their souls knew each other and had many lifetimes of loving one another. I cannot wait to see what else S. Barker writes. They are a new to me author, and I loved their writing style and the way the story flowed.

Have you ever met someone and felt like you’ve known them your whole life? S. Barker’s characters in Déjà Vu have a very similar experience.
Liam lives in a small town and is starting his last year of high school. He was forced out of the closet years ago and has decided that he will no longer let his bullies ruin his high school experience.
Elijah and his family have had to leave the big city and he has to finish his last year of high school in Liam’s small town. He just wants to finish school so he can get back to his friends in Sydney.
These two feel drawn to each other even though they seem worlds apart. With the help of some vivid dreams that Liam has been having, they may find out just why they feel like soulmates.
I enjoyed this story, the backstory of the characters was well written and their love was definitely felt when reading the story. The supporting characters are great as well and integral to the story. Definitely recommend!
