4.75 Stars

Sam E. Kraemer delivers everything she said she would in this slow burn, low-angst story of a rising star country singer from Texas and his long-time crush. Kelso is on his way in the music business. Tanner has his own record, just not in music. He’s dealing with a past he didn’t ask for and he’d soon enough forget.

One thing I loved about this story was it wasn’t just about Tanner and Kelso. It was also about Kelso and his brother, Leo. I loved getting to know Leo just as much and how the author made him an important part of the story as well. We learn enough about him to open up for what’s to come.

We also meet a number of other characters that I fell in love with. One of my most favorites was the little mutt. He made my love my rescue a little bit more. With some of these characters, I have to wonder if there will be third and fourth books in this series as well. I truly hope so as I’d read about a few more.

The story was a joy to read that I read through my entire Saturday. Nothing got done until I was done with this book.

I’m giving the story 4.75 stars. I loved the story. I loved the sacrifices Tanner had to make in this book. I did wonder why Tanner wasn’t angrier with some things and I wish all men were more like him. And saying that I wish more men were like him as well. But, like my bookmark says something like, “I love fictional characters more than real people most days.” Yes Tanner, this certainly applies to you.
