New Release Review ~ Sleight of Hand by Charlie Cochet

Former Special Forces Green Beret, Sacha “Joker” Wilder, is well-versed on the subject of demolitions. As a silent partner of Four Kings Security, Joker spends his days working alongside his brothers-in-arms and his best boy, Chip—a bomb-sniffing Belgian Malinois with sass. Years of military and private security experience have prepared Joker for almost anything, except the explosive attraction between him and Giovanni Galanos.

When Gio returns from his travels abroad, everyone is charmed by the handsome billionaire philanthropist, but in Joker’s experience, anyone who’s too good to be true usually is. Gio is hiding something, but the more time Joker spends around Gio, the more his walls start crumbling, leaving him exposed and at risk of losing his heart, something he swore he would never do. Love is for suckers, and that’s not him.

For years Gio has dedicated his life to his charity work, helping people around the globe, but when things go horribly wrong during one particular trip, Gio decides it’s time to come home for good. The desire for family, and a certain ex-Green Beret with a chip on his shoulder, has Gio eager to restart his life Stateside. For all of Sacha’s blustering and griping, no one makes Gio feel safer. If only Sacha could see how right they are for each other.

Danger lurks in the shadows as someone sets their sights on Gio, and secrets are forced into the light. If Gio and Joker are to have any kind of future together, they’ll have to face difficult truths, because where love is concerned, it’ll take more than sleight of hand to make things work.

The Kings: Wild Cards series is a spin-off of the Four Kings Security series.

5+ Stars!

Much as I loved King and Leo, Gio and Joker (Sacha) are now my favorite couple in this ‘verse (and very high in my all-around list) ever. You should read the previous books, both in the Four Kings Security series and the spin-off series The Kings: Wild Cards before reading Sleight of Hand, because they’re all awesome books and we meet Joker and Chip on them and then Gio in Stacking the Deck and really, reading them in order makes the experience even better.

Gio was everything I had hoped he’d be and more, so much more! Can we clone him, Ms. Cochet? Because I’d be first in line if we can. LOL. He was amazing, going up and above to show Sacha that he wanted him just like he was. He was also flawed, but rather than annoy me when he messed up, it just endeared him more to me because of his reasons. And Sacha, damn, his backstory just about broke me. I just wanted to hug him and make it better for him.

Gio and Sacha were just perfect for each other. Sacha by dropping his defenses and being so caring and loving with Gio and Gio by accepting Sacha just like he was and not expecting him to fit in his world. Their chemistry was off-the-charts and I just adored them together and with Chip and then with Cookie. *melts all over the place for those puppies*

This book was a rollercoaster of emotions for me. I laughed, I cried, I aww’d, and was completely enthralled by this fantastic book. It was fun, sweet, hot, action-packed, with an interesting storyline that showcased how good the Kings are at what they do.

I loved catching up with the Kings, Jack, and the Boyfriend Collective, and can’t wait for more, especially after that Epilogue! Highly recommendable!
