Everyone remembers the night the boy band Eleven broke up. Hearts shattered around the world, including my own.

I made a mistake, and I’ve been avoiding bandmate Mason Nash ever since.

At first it was hard, but eighteen months ago, he made it easier by leaving Hollywood and disappearing.

When Eleven reunion talks start, I’m against it completely. I could really do with the publicity, but I don’t want to face Mason again. I’m sure he won’t want to see me either.

I don’t miss LA or anyone in it. Not even the guys from Eleven.

So, when they turn up on my doorstep talking about reunions, the last thing I want to do is hear them out.

I hold strong too. Until my eyes land on Denver Smith.

My ex-best friend.

Two and a half years ago, he ghosted me, and I still don’t know why.

I want answers—I miss him—but I don’t want to let him back into my life if there’s a chance he’ll walk away again.

5 Stars

Before I get too deep into my review, I want to start with how much I loved the body positive message in this book. All bodies are beautiful…muscled or soft, slender or perfectly plump. I don’t focus too much on how different characters’ bodies are to mine, but for some reason, I do notice when they have a more pleasantly plump appearance. Solidarity/relatability, I guess.
Eden Finley’s voice is one that definitely calls to me. Maybe because her level of snark is like a siren song to my own. The banter between characters is something I’m always drawn to. These guys—the 5 members of Eleven—have the practiced ease of having known each other for so many years, and having worked/performed side by side throughout all of it. They know each other on and off-stage. When all five of them FINALLY get together, in one room, it’s an experience that sparks clarity…almost like coming home does.
I easily found myself lost in Denver and Mason’s story, living in their world until the book ran out of words. This book was a little angstier than we’re normally used to from the author, but it still contained everything we’ve come to love about her books. It was well written with lovable characters. We’ve seen Denver and Mason here and there, and heard about them as well. In this book, we got to really get to know them, and I’m so glad we did. They are such great characters and so easy to like. I want to scoop Denver up and claim him as my son, as well.
I am excited to see where Eden Finley takes us next, and by us, I mean Blake…Eleven…this series. I’m 100% invested in these guys and their lives. Reading Blake’s book is not a want; it’s a need. Basically, reading any book written by Eden Finley is a need.

5 Stars!

Honestly, I wasn’t sure I was going to love Mason and Denver’s story as much as I did, even though this is double GFY/bi-awakening, which is one of my favorite tropes. But the last 25% totally changed my mind, and if you’re anything like me, you’ll likely need to stock on your tissues before you get to that part.

I really liked Denver, my heart broke for everything he’d gone through since he was little. I liked Mason, too, although I wanted to shake some sense into him at some point or other. The sparks flew whenever they were close to each other and I adored how natural the progression of their relationship was.

This was an angstier read than the prior two books, even though it was well-balanced with Eden Finley’s particular brand of hotness, snark, and banter. This was a wonderful second-chances, best friends to lovers romance, angsty and sweet and fun. I loved seeing all the Eleven guys together at last and I can’t wait to read Blake and Jordan’s story.

Highly recommendable!

4 Stars

I love Eden Finley. What that means is: I read this book despite it being a trope that I’m not keen on, i.e. music based stories…rock/pop stars. It’s a reflection of the strength of her writing that I still enjoyed it on the whole, although the series is not my favourite of hers.

This is a story about two guys who have their own demons, and instead of communicating with each other, kept parts of themselves closed off and lost their friendship as a result. Mason ran away at the break up of Eleven and hid; Denver hid himself in plain sight. It’s the third in the series. It does help if you’ve read the others, but there’s enough back story to fill you in (without spoiling those books). This is a slower, more angsty story than most Eden Finley’s stories—but don’t get me wrong, it’s not ‘heavy’. There is one event that left me reeling and made me cry—just like it does the characters.

Mason and Denver will tug at your hearts. Mason’s feelings of abandonment are strong and it takes a lot of searching of his heart, and Denver putting himself out there—finally—to move past these feelings. He is a little frustrating at times but he has got a lot of pent up resentment and pain that no one came after him. They are sweet together. It’s a slow burn, but, once they open up to their feelings, it’s emotional and satisfying. It’s obvious it’s more than a best friends’ bromance. The entire band has a lot to open up about (what happened in the past), particularly Denver and Mason and who they are. Their HEA is hard won but very satisfying.

It’s a definite recommendation from me. I recognise that this is a case of me, not the book. If you’re a fan of rockstar books, then this is absolutely up your street. Fans of Eden Finley will also enjoy it, too.
