Release Blitz ~ Sheriff’s Secret by K. Webster (Reviews)

From USA Today bestselling author K Webster comes a
steamy, emotional, enemies-to-lovers small-town MM romance!

The past was all he could see…until him.

When you’re the sheriff of Brigs Ferry Bay, certain things are expected of you.
Marry a local girl, settle down, have a few kids. You know, the small-town dream.
But I’ve got a secret I’m terrified will get out.

I’m gay.
Not bi. Not curious. Not confused.
Just gay.
So, settling for that dream won’t be happening.

If this secret gets out, the people I serve and protect, especially my father, won’t be accepting.

I’m not brave like my high school sweetheart, Kian.
The day he came out was the day I had to let him go, and with it, love.

I’ve done a great job of pretending I’m perfectly fine being single. Until a villainous and annoyingly charming new B&B owner, Dante Kincaid, rolls into town. The spark between us is electric and undeniable. He wants to give me a taste of what he has to offer, and better yet, he vows to be discreet. I’m too selfish to refuse.

But my secret is still a heavy burden, leaving me handcuffed to expectations and unable to fully grasp what I want–him. History has a way of repeating itself, but this time around, with Dante, it’ll hurt a lot worse.

I have to decide if I’m going to let love slip away again or if I’m going to finally fight for it.

Brigs Ferry Bay is a steamy MM romance series.
Fall in love with the charming small-town gay romances of Brigs Ferry Bay.

While each book can be read as a standalone, to get the full experience, they’re best read in order.

5 Stars!!!

Jax is steadfast and responsible, and very lonely. He’s afraid of how the people in Brigs Ferry Bay—and his parents, especially—might react to him coming out, even if at the same time, he wishes he could do it and claim back his first love, Kian. When he meets Dante, you can practically see the sparks between them, first in animosity and later in lust and then love. Dante loves to rile up the hot Sheriff and after a heated encounter, he offers Jax to be his secret. Neither of them expects it to be more than a weekend, but they find some common ground and start getting closer, and their growing feelings make it difficult to want to remain a secret for long.

Their chemistry was out of this world. Yes, this starts as sort of enemies-to-lovers, but it doesn’t take long until Jax and Dante become friends and lovers as they bond through their concern for their younger brothers. They are hot together, but there’s more than just sex between them. They spend time together and while neither of them is looking for a relationship, what with one being in the closet and the other having decided not to be in another one after an engagement gone wrong, one certainly develops between them.

I love small-town romances, mostly due to the fascinating secondary characters you can find in them. Brigs Ferry Bay was not an exception, even if there were some unsavory characters that I wanted to throat punch. *coughs Jax’s father coughs* I loved Dante’s sister and brother and Jax’s brother, and Brie and Kian, but my favorite was Kato, who I hope will get a book, too. I loved that Jax couldn’t say no to Kato whenever he offered him a new kitten, LOL. Their friendship was definitely a highlight in the book for me.

Overall, this was such a fantastic way to start this series! While I can get frustrated when some closeted MCs refuse to come out, K Webster did it in such a way that I understood Jax’s reasons and felt sorry for him instead of annoyed. It didn’t hurt that this was such a compelling story, I just couldn’t put it down until I finished. I fell in love with Jax and Dante and with this world and I can’t wait to read Kian’s Focus and see what else Ms. Webster and Ms. Walker have in store for us next.

5 Flaming Stars

Holy, wow. If I could sum this book up with one, short sentence, it would be: hot with a plot.

This story has it all: two alpha males, an extremely closeted main character, an out and proud main character, angst, steam, humor, mystery, charming side characters, and an idyllic setting. It will touch on every emotion you could possibly have, and leave you thankful for it.

As surly as Jax comes off, you can’t help but love him. I hate that he has to hide the biggest part of himself, and I hate that he was born into such a controlling, homophobic family. Fear is a b!¥ch, and he’s its prisoner. That made my heart ache for him.

Jax may not have planned on Dante, and vice versa, but dang, their chemistry is hot from the first time they met, all the way through ‘til the end. The fact that they started out at odds, made it even better. You may need a fan while reading this.

Beyond the romance aspect, this book includes a series of crimes, and a race to find out who is perpetrating them. The crimes are personal for our main characters, and their effects are felt by the whole town.

This was well written, and absolutely enthralling. It is a must-read for everyone. I can’t imagine anyone not enjoying this book. I really can’t. I, also, cannot wait to read the next book!
